For almost every Japanese car in the US market, there is a counterpart in Japan known as the JDM version. The old xB was known as the bB, the xA is called the iST, the Lexus GS called the Aristo, and the Lexus SC the Soarer; anyway you get the point. Unlike many in the past, the US version xB is nothing like the new bB in Japan. The new JDM bB is much smaller, similar to our Gen1, but sports a completely different front end. Our xB2 is known as the Toyota Rumion under the Corolla moniker in Japan. According to industry sources, the xB2 was first designed in the US then brought over to Japan and released as a Toyota. But being Japanese, they couldn't leave well enough alone, they had to change it. In a way, the Toyota Rumion has a much more aggressive look in the front and they subtract our ugly reverse light in the left hand corner in favor of the traditional reverse light in the tail lights array. Almost everything else on the exterior and interior is identical to our xB, except of course everything says Rumion. The badging on the outside all have the Toyota cowboy hat logo instead of Scion, in the back left bottom corner we see Corolla with Rumion below it and on the right bottom corner we see the letter G with the words AeroTuner in red after it. For those of you JDM fans, if you do decide to change your xB emblems for Rumion ones, please note that the front emblem isn't flat like our Scion emblem. It was designed to be clipped on to the factory Rumion grill, so it takes quite a bit of creative modding to get it to fit properly, otherwise everything else is on double-stick.
Now if you love the way the Rumion looks, the entire front end can be purchased from Carson Scion for about $2500 which includes a new hood, fenders, and bumper. It may sound like a lot, but its rather inexpensive considering its a factory part made of metal and truly JDM; but don't forget the $2500 doesn't include shipping. ScionScene is currently working with a JDM importer to bring in the Rumion rear bumper and tail lights for under $1500, so be on the lookout. Most Rumion parts like the front bumper, window visors, interior pieces, door sills, bumper protector and other cool parts can be found at Carson Scion's NewScionParts.
